The initial reviews that I saw on GoodReads were all positive, so I was excited to try it out. Being of Greek descent and having frequented Tarpon Springs many times, I was excited for this historical fiction. The overall plot and storyline were good. However, the dialogue felt forced and unnatural. Zanna was a caricature of a woman. All the characters felt like caricatures honestly. The Christianity throughout the novel did not feel like it belonged. It's historically accurate, yes, but it also felt like a huge advertisement. This was the biggest turn off. Oh well. Just wasn't meant for me.
