Emotional damage 100%, not a light read. I love Chrome 1000% more now that we have some backstory

Wow. I’m honestly speechless right now after reading this book staring at the wall, and trying to think through everything. Now this is how to write a prequal. K. L. DeVore is an amazing writer. The way she portrays these characters and writes these dark twisted stories is beyond. She covers very heavy topics that can be challenging to read. I cried for these characters. I’m glad we get a backstory on these characters especially Chrome, Gray, and Slate. This book follows dual povs of Chrome and Slate. You have to read A Touch of Gold and Madness FIRST. Otherwise they’re spoilers. Man this plot and these characters have me hooked. I was right knowing this book was going to hurt me. I somehow did not expect the plot twists at the end. Jaw dropping.

This book was a masterpiece. The author’s writing is so captivating and the depths that she writes the characters makes me feel like I know each and every one of them. This prequel answered so many questions and left me with even more! I can’t get enough of this series and I am beyond excited for the next book.
