I read this book to my almost-four-year-old daughter this month (roughly one chapter per day), and we both loved it. I'm confident that I read it as a kid, but I hardly remembered what happened beyond a spider weaving the words "Some Pig" into her web, so the vast majority of this book felt as fresh to me as it did to my daughter.

White's use of language is incredible, from precise choice of words, to amazing character voices, to vivid yet completely accessible physical descriptions, to an amazing knack for capturing complex emotions in a simple, understandable way that feels totally, universally natural. Some of the story matters are surprisingly adult (much of the plot has directly to do with death!), yet it is handled with such care that it isn't something scary, but an opportunity to talk with young readers about the subject (and several other "big" subjects).

This was a joy to read aloud, and I'm very glad that my daughter was willing (and patient enough!) to listen.

I've always loved this story. The new narration was lovely - a wonderful way to wind down before bed (and sometimes fall asleep), especially these days.

Fun audiobook to listen to in under 4 hours. Narrated by Meryl Streep with a full cast. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Such a joy to read to my 2 and 7 year old children. The virtue of this book is its engaging narrative, use of literary language and its willingness to tackle difficult and real topics as the both opens and closes with an exploration of death. Such a joy
