Just as magical reading it with my 6-year-old as it was when I was a kid.
This entire book was a throwback to my childhood. I remember reading this book out on the grass right after losing both of my front teeth and falling in love with it almost instantly.
So glad I had the chance to reread it for my literature class this semester. :)

I read most of this aloud with Star but then my babysitter finished it with her while we were in Korea so I had to go read the last few chapter to myself!

A great first novel to read aloud or with kids as they begin to work though linger more complex stories. I have fond memories of reading this as a child and live being able to read it with my elementary school students and see them fall in love with chapter books. A true classic.
Such a classic! I loved reading this book as a child and I just finished reading it to my daughter. It was so wonderful watching her react to this story and she loved it.
I actually didn't care for this - the writing, characters or plot. My 9yo loved it!
