“After all, what's a life, anyway? We're born, we live a little while, we die.”
Charlotte is one of the sweetest and most selfless character to ever exist and I love her so much. She tried really hard so that Wilbur wouldn’t be Christmas food and asked for nothing in return. Fern is also a hero since saved Wilbur first after her father was going to end him for being the runt of the litter. I thought I was old enough to reread this and not shed a few tears at the end, but I was wrong.
Rereading this now I realize that I don’t particularly like Wilbur since he is such a whiny character who is just waiting for everyone to save him (Elena Gilbert must have gotten character inspiration from him) but when I first read it over 10 years ago, I had no problem with this. Still, this book was really sweet and a must read for every kid!

One of my childhood favorites. But then I guess it's everybody's childhood favorite? :o)
2007:
"So simple, so brilliant. A true classic. I love kids stories that aren't soft, but are true and honest. And what an ending."

I loved it as a child and recently read it with my third grader. I am proud to report that he loved it, too, and was choked up when Wilbur lost Charlotte. Take that, Wimpy Kid books!
Maybe the number of stars is a bit high, but I loved the ending. Is a children's book, don't expect Alice in wonderland level of deepness, it is a children's book. But it builds this image of a better time, a simpler time, it has this small moments that bring you back to your own childhood (the first girl/boy you liked...). For small children the ending might be hard to accept.
I picked up this childrens classic, among a few others, at a free little library awhile ago. I have never actually read Charlotte's Web before today, or ever watched any film adaptation of it, so I didn't know the story at all.
It is a wonderful, beautiful, and truly special little book. I was such a sensitive child that if I read this back then I think it would have destroyed me. It kind of did anyway at 33.

I so forgot I read this book when I finished fifth grade! This book was weird and cool at the same time.... at least at the time when I was reading it. I liked the book at that time...and that's just what I remember
I liked this book, but I think I liked the movie better!
ondanks het einde hartstikke logisch is vind ik hem toch nog best wel sad
