One of Sparks' best books. The characters were engaging and the ending wasn't as predictable.

Wow. I’m honestly disappointed in this book. I don’t prefer books with martial conflict in them, and this one made it all the worse.

Amanda as a character was really frustratingly awful.

This also went between several POV’s, and I honestly skimmed through quite a few of them.

This didn’t feel much like a romance at all. It made me angry through a good bit of it, and it wrapped the story up in an ugly awful way, trying to make one sweet thing make up for all the awful distrusting plot. This was not it for me at all.

If your looking for a good romance I suggest you look somewhere else, dear goodness.

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time.

DNF @20%. I absolutely :LOVE this movie, but the book doesn't live up to it for me!
medium-paced

6/10; it took me a while to get through and i wasnt exactly rooting for the couple? But it really picked up in the last 60 pages where i was like omg where is this going and then at the last page 20 pages i realized okay i know and then the very last page was sweet

Like all Nicholas Spark's books you could finish this in one sitting. My biggest problem was towards the end I could just predict what would happen. Other then that, this was a great book. The first few chapters were a blur, but it eventually all tied together. Bravo, NS!

Sparks once again manages to start out with a beautifully written encounter between two lovers, just to find the courage to smash all of it into pieces.

I really liked how Amanda and Dawes' relationship blossomed again after they'd lost contact as young adults. I think Dawes got an amazing redemption arc and I would have wished the same for Amanda : I read on someone's review that she never progressed - she always remained obedient to her mother's wishes, which is absolutely true.
SpoilerI wished she had found the courage to be with Dawes, that he hadn't died in such a meaningless way. Jared deserved to have his life saved but it should not have been at Dawes' expense. He lived all his life for a woman who couldn't stand her ground to defend their love - it was such a waste.
