In no way or form should this book be considered anything but terrible. Aside from being extremely predictable, it is the first book from Sparks that I have a hard time reading because, one, I knew where it was going the moment the ghost showed up, and two, because it was everywhere.

I almost feel as if this review is unfair, for the writing itself was interesting and insightful. However, this is just not my type of book. I read it because my grandma lent it to me, and I liked getting a glimpse inside of the novels she loves. I liked the characters too, and I quickly became infatuated with Dawson and Amanda. I just felt that it lacked in... the excitement and fantasy that I normally enjoy in my reading.
Sweet story but is also just like other Sparks' books such as The Notebook. I did like the story, and if you are a Sparks fan, you'll love this book. I just feel that all his novels tend to run the same path, so that's why I'm giving it 4 stars.

I’m so happy I finally got around to reading this book because I loved the movie but the book has so much more detail (shocker… nobody is surprised).
The main focus of the movie is obviously on the romance, but in the book you get the perspectives of not only Dawson and Amanda but also Ted, Abee, Mrs. Bonner and her son, and Candy—some of which aren’t even characters in the movie. I appreciated how these different perspectives allowed you to see the chain reaction that led to the ending. TW: emotional
