I thought this would make a great movie. It almost reminded me of a chick lit book written specifically for a man though, but it was funny and entertaining throughout. Is there such a thing as "chuck lit"?

Not as good as the others but for 25ยข from the thrift store, I'm not complaining.

I picked this up expecting the humor of This Is Where I Leave You. It has a couple of funny moments, provided by the main character's father's antics but it isn't a comedy, it is more like chick lit written from a guy's perspective. As a reader, you can predict where every storyline is going to end, which is fine, it should be expected from a feel good book like this. It is enjoyable, a solid 3 star book.

This is my favorite of Jonathan Tropper's books. It's similar to chick lit, but written from a guy's point of view. Jonathan has an amazing way with words and his books are full of humor.

In this one, Zack is engaged to a gorgeous woman but all he can think of is how he feels for his best friend's widow. She, of course, has no idea of his feelings for her. Zack is so likably flawed, it's hard not to root for him. Certain events occur - including his dad coming into the picture - and then everything changes.

This is a bold story about making decisions and dealing with their consequences. It's brilliantly done, and makes me cry every time I get to the ending. One of my top five favorite books of all time!

another great story by jonathan trooper. the book follows a similar trajectory of his other books i've read (This Is Where I Leave You, One Last Thing Before I Go) - a man who's life at one point has been stellar is now in a life that sucks. family dynamics and dysfunction play an integral part in the story again, and i think that is one reason that i find his books so engaging - we all feel like we have that insane family that looks like a train wreck no matter how you look at it. i kept envisioning Norm, the father, as Lee Corso - crazy, a bit senile, mostly likable, but totally inept. the characters in the book are easy to sort out. i did like the use of jumping around in time to tell different pertinent parts of the story, and how they fit into the bigger picture. all in all, another home run for trooper (once you read the book, you might understand why calling it a home run might infuriate the main character, Zach). :)

I'd never read any Jonathan Tropper, but I read somewhere that nearly aLL of his books are going to become movies very soon, so I thought I'd give one a go. Aaaaand I really liked it. It seemed like less voice-y Nick Hornby, maybe, but it also reminded me an awful lot of Rainbow Rowell's Attachments. Funny, touching, etc. Loved the audio narrator, too.

A little formulaic, but overall an enjoyable read.

I am a fan Jonathan! I am a fan. Well written, likable characters, so relatable! Zack has it all: a hot, rich girlfriend devoted to him, a well paying job. So why does he keep thinking about Tamara, his best friend's widow? And how did his dead beat dad suddenly worm his way back into his life. Ah, the crazy ways we screw things up to follow our hearts. Funny, sweet and charming!
