DID NOT FINISH: 41%

Got tired of it.

Awwww yeah! Finished my last remaining book from last year. It actually took me over two years to finish because I kept putting it down to read other things/do school work.

But, the bulk of this book (about 800 pages when I picked it up this time) went by so fast. I read during downtime at work and I could get through 100+ pages in a shift. I already watch the show so I expected to be less engaged. I was so, so wrong. So excited to get even deeper into Martin's world.

Also RIP my real GoT love. (Wouldn't want to spoil anything by naming names).

Dived into this immediately after I finished the first book. The steady introduction and further exploration of new characters, their POVs as well new locations further enriched the world of Westeros and beyond.

I think when you have an attachment for the characters from the previous book, it made this entry all the more emotional to read through when the stakes were high and the horrors were happening.  I found that I also enjoyed certain characters POVs more than I did from the previous book, (eg Tyrion) due to them being on the opposite end of the court drama in comparison to a character like Sansa. I also hope we get more of a glimpse of the Dragonstone characters in the next book (which i’m reading now)

The only thing that I have to complain about a little (that’s not too big of an issue) was probably the dryness and length of the ship battle scene, I think it dragged on a fair bit, but it didn’t really affect my enjoyment of the story.

POVs I liked the most: Daenerys, Sansa, Theon, Tyrion, Catelyn

Least favourite POV: Jon (although  the nights watch chapters get more interesting towards the end of the book)

One warning. Don't expect any happy endings in this book! This book is full of the brutality of war and all it entails.

This book has pulled me further into the world of dragons, fire and ice! I can't wait to read book 3.
