I enjoyed this book more than [b:Angels & Demons|960|Angels & Demons (Robert Langdon, #1)|Dan Brown|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1527091700s/960.jpg|3338963]. However, I have some issues with it:
- The book beginning was annoyingly similar to Angels & Demons; Langdon is summoned in the middle of the night to attend a crime scene and he’s attracted to a woman who is linked to the murdered guy.
- I don’t like it when I outwit characters who are supposedly too intellectually advanced. As a mere reader, I’m supposed to be mind-blown by the solution of a riddle and not see it coming right away.
- I predicted some very important twists. I can’t elaborate without spoiling them.
- After googling something to understand it better, it turned out that the book had some goofs and Dan Brown didn’t get some of his facts 100% right.
BUT, the book is very interesting. [a:Dan Brown|630|Dan Brown|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1399396714p2/630.jpg] always offers new things to me that I often find so fascinating. So, despite all the shortcomings I have mentioned above, I highly recommend this book to art and history lovers, those who are interested in religions but not necessarily religious, and to suckers for conspiracy theories.

This book wasn't as bad as it first set out to be. I think had I read this one without reading 'Digital Fortres' or 'Deception Point', I would have enjoyed it a bit more.
In terms of what I liked about this book: I enjoyed the 'adventure blockbuster' quality to it. It was never really boring. The plot kept pase even with the +500 pages. I also enjoyed how Brown (most likely stole) used the ideas of the quest for the holy grail and all the factors that came into play. Even if the idea isin't original, I did like the little hunts the characters went on to solve the puzzles.
That being said, I can't really say that I liked this book. Again, the characters were much too flat, the twists and turns at this point in Brown's library was to be expected and didn't have an impact on me. Had this been my first read from him, that would have been fantastic and fun. But as this is now the third book to use this technique as it's only selling point....
All in all, I don't regret reading it as it was a light, fun, action adventure. I won't reread it, and I'll just watch the movie as it feels as though this was mainly set up for the big screen.
