It’s a slow burn book. The point of view changes a lot sometimes you forget who you were reading it as. Things don’t get exciting until the 2nd half or last quarter of the book.

Story is hard to get into due to how annoying the main character POV is

I like it, but it was not as good as "The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires". Lynette was annoying at times at the beginning; however, she comes through at the end.

“i wont let these boys keep making more final girls. it’s not some profound and ancient ritual. it’s just a waste of a life”
this was such a book! the premise was if slasher movies were actually real life cases and the final girls from those cases got old and had a support group.
from what i could figure out-
marilyn was from Texas Chainsaw massacre
heather was nightmare on elm street
dani was Halloween
adrienne was Friday the 13th
julia was scream
i’m not sure what lynne and chrissy were ??
the parts i disliked were chrissy as a character and i felt like lynnette’s story wasn’t wrapped up well enough. i loved most of the characters and it was entertaining it just wasn’t exactly what i expected/wanted

Honestly the 2 dimensional characters and terrible writing along with the constant toss-in of shcok factor just made the book feel like it should simply be individual stories written by an author with talent.

This book was engaging, and I found the premise interesting. Though I didn't find any of the characters likable, I could understand their motivations, so that kept me reading. This was my third book by Hendrix, and it seems that he tends to gravitate toward writing that sort of character. That and be really enjoys a twist at the end. This twist was decent, though I do think a bit more interaction at the end between the characters involved in the murder plot would have helped wrap things up. I think that's something Hendrix could improve upon. That said, I'm going to continue reading his work!

Hendirx always delivers me the feel good 80's horror, that I need to escape into.
I dont come to him for genre changing, mind blowing stories. I come for the comfort of a good old fashioned slasher!
Sure there was more potential here for this concept to go further, but I loved that it was a little messy, very predicatable and wonderfully over the top. Hendrix obviously has a fantastic understanding of the horror world, and the ability to give me Freddy level love in book format.
