I am so sad and disappointed.
Gemma is a poor girl with no self-esteem who forgives offenses over and over again. There is never a limit to it. And Savio is a fucking filthy cheat. He hurt her throughout the damn book and slept with many women when they were engaged. And you know what? It wouldn't have bothered me as much if the situation was a non-infatuated Gemma. But Gemma had been in love with Savio for years AND HE KNEW IT. And he didn't mind treating her badly. He didn't mind sleeping with others knowing that she was suffering and patiently waiting for the moment when he would change and say a date for the wedding. And, if Savio and Gemma had been a "forced" commitment, where neither of them wanted to be, perhaps they would have tolerated Savio's behavior saying that he doesn't owe anyone shit and shouldn't limit himself just so as not to harm third parties. The problem is that Gemma was already engaged to someone else and Savio did not tolerate it. He couldn't stand his pure Gemma going to end up with another guy, so he challenged him to a duel. He did it even knowing that he did not care about marriage, did not care about Gemma and robbed him of a future where, perhaps, he could have been happy. So he asked for it and then he didn't have a little emotional responsibility. He hurt her so much ... and she forgave everything in the name of love. Savio told him on the last page that he loves her. I don't believe anything. That's not love. I think Savio will be unfaithful to him from here to a few years, when he gets bored of the new toy.

The worst book in the series. How did they manage to take one of my advise characters, savio, and make him so unlikable. Any depth to his personality was stripped and he genuinely was a horrible human being with no growth. The fact they were only on good terms for the last 100 pages of the book was insane. Gemma had no self respect and was as so desperate and desperate embarrassing. She had a lot of potential as a character, both tough and soft, like real people, but all of that was over shadowed by her embarrassing obsession with savio.
While this might not be the best book in the series, I really loved and enjoyed it. Similar to Adamo using drugs to numb his pain, I believe Savio used sex and partying. It was a means to an end for him. And Gemma definitely shook up his world. She fought for her relationship with Savio, saw past his darkness and became his light. Both characters frustrated me at times, Savio with his lack of seriousness and Gemma believing Savio would change overnight. After they got married Gemma made Savio work for the physical side of relationship, as he should of. Since prior to the wedding he thought he could just play around, while she sat back and watched. And fighting Mick for Gemma's hand made me roll my eyes a little, cause Savio could have asked her hand and then dragged out the engagement. He ended up doing that anyways. While I don't agree with that, it would have better than embarrassing Mick. Plus it made Gemma a trophy, and he wasn't doing it out of love. Just out of pure childish jealousy and control. Often I found myself screaming at my kindle. However I couldn't put this book down, I finished it in a day. And was tempted to start over in the same sitting. This couple is my guilty pleasure, though they both tested my patience, I rooted for them the whole time.
This book took elements from several of Cora's books and highlighted a lot of dark and twisted norms present in Cora's Mafia world. And for the first time actions had consequences, while there is a happy ended, Cora didn't skate over the negativity that comes from being a part of the Mafia.

Don’t get me wrong, there were parts that had me giggling and cringing — but in a good way. Cora’s writing still has that addictive quality, but Twisted Hearts just didn’t hit like the others, and I’m honestly disappointed in this one
