Hilarious and sad.
funny mysterious fast-paced

Overall, a pretty meh set of short stories. They were fine and they had the Wilde flair to them, but I wasn't terribly interested in what was going on in all of the stories. The most interesting one was Lord Arthur Saville's Crimes but it really petered out. In the end, not for me. I'll try it again one day!

Awesome story, Oscar Wilde really does an amazing job with this story.

I wanted an easy-to-read short story, because life's been too busy to commit to something longer, and this was an amazing choice. It's definitely easy to read and fun, although the last part of the story is not as funny and light as the first half. I recommend if you want to try an easy and fun classic story.

Highly enjoyable and entertaining story by Wilde. I was surprised by the ending - hoped it would be more sinister and scary - but it was still a pleasant read.

Oscar Wilde, the King of Satire.

I don't want to give too much away because it is only a short story but essentially this story is about a ghost of a manor who just can't seem to scare the new American owners, who are totally unperturbed by his attempts to scare them.

Oscar Wilde is the right amount of funny, smart and snarky for this sort of story. I found it super light and readable and felt pity for the poor Canterville Ghost, whose favourite past times include holding his head away from his body, making blood stains on the carpet and scaring the maids into mental institutions.

A fun lil romp and something I would not have read if it weren't for Serial Reader. c:

lol this was fun!

This book is SO funny when you read it while fully taking into account the English vs. American stereotypes that Wilde uses without restraint. I laughed out loud multiple times and just wish it were longer!

Also, when reading Wilde, it is very difficult for me to separate the person from the writing, so I am left wondering: was that ending meant to be a
saucy innuendo
or not?

This used to be one of my favorite stories as a kid
