There was quite a lot about colour theory which I ended up skim reading but it was beautifully put together and you get a real sense of who van Gogh was and how he lived his life

Though it doesn't contain all of Van Gogh's letters, it still is a nice collection. The notes added in are helpful to understanding the context of letters and to help fill in the gaps. Van Gogh has been a favorite of mine since I was young and it was great to learn more about him after all this time, in his own voice as well!

I cannot believe it took me nearly two years to read this book.

It is so, so wonderful though, and I don't regret taking so long to enjoy it. He was a great writer with such inspiring passion for painting, art and nature. My copy already looks like I've read it five times; I'll come back to it soon.
