Such a intriguing tale! Beautiful writing and fantastic ideas lace together the narrative. Keeps you on your toes and wanting more of the strange happenings. Makes you consider lives outside of yours. What the author wanted us to take from this? I don’t know, the ending was vague to me. Guess I didn’t quite grasp a meaning or lesson, or perhaps the lesson is that things happen, whether we learn from them or not.

i’m leaving this as a no rating for now bc i’m still trying to process how i feel ab this book. i was lowkey disappointed but at the same time i didn’t necessarily dislike it? maybe i’m just salty bc i had to pay $28 for this book and my frugal self is screaming at myself rn. i just don’t think erin morgenstern’s writing style is for everyone, but i will admit that her prose is naturally alluring; which makes this book an automatic page-turner.

This book is a lot to process, especially near the end. I deeply loved this, I think I got in to about half way and I just fell into the story and I looked up and it was like 5 hours or so later and I had read the last page. This book is dripped in the literary world - wait no not literary, more like the story telling world. This is not a book about books, its a story about stories. This is the kind of book that makes me want to do one of those 4 hour video essays where I just go through all of the literary references and analyze it all - not because anyone would watch it but because this book makes me want to understand all the references, I have a page bookmarked with all the books & games mentioned in this book because I want to check so many of them out.
At the same time, I don't think I could give this a full 5 stars as much as it is going on my favorites list. This is mostly because I feel like the whimsical writing just got in the way at times? like, yes not everything needs to be explained, but almost nothing was made clear. The ending is also one of those that I would agree with everyone on it because I both love it and hate it? I'm just simply undecided if the longing I Feel in my chest that I need more of this book is because the world and the story are so wonderful I now want more, or because things were just simply not explained so I want a more to understand it, to feel like I am happy with the conclusion.
