My only regret in reading this book is not knowing more about Japanese cuisine. But after reading it I can say that I know more about it now then before.

The book have things in common with Before the Coffee gets Cold in that each chapter follows the same formula and follows a new character. Someone arrives at the Kamogawa Diner in hope of having a dish from their past recreated and their reasons for wanting it. Skip forward in time and follow them as they taste the result and an explanation from the Chef/Detective of how he did it.

Stories that follow a formula like this one is not for everyone but it works for me. I really recomend it if you like cooking and/or Before the Coffee gets Cold.

Also, unlike Before the Coffee gets Cold, the cat on the cover on this one is actually in the book

Cute book, the basis of the storyline had such potential - very repetitive, characters unlikeable
