A novella written in 1912 by German Writer Thomas Mann which is a stream of consciousness work. The protagonist is an older man who appears adrift in his thinking...is a notable author and is having a mid life crisis. A change of scenery has him making a retreat to Venice where he becomes enraptured by a young boy who he adores, and becomes a stalker (there is just no other way to put it). Although he never makes any real moves on the boy it still did not bode well with me. I didn't hate the work, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
