A powerful look at the last hundred years of occupied Palestine. Unquestionably, inevitably biased - but there is not perspective on the conflict that can be without bias at this point, as evidenced by the in-depth look at the rise and fall and rise again of global influences in the Arab nations.

If you read one book this year, make it tjis one. It is harrowing, illuminating and puts in perspective a nuanced image of a century of wars, the forces of colonialism and oppression of a people. Khalidi doesn't only provide a fair view of the oppressor, but also puts a stark eye on the mistakes of the other side. Depressing, but important.
