(I don't rate smut - but I loved this)

All the girlies were saying that this was the best book in the series, and they were not wrong. That shaving scene alone really solidified it for me.

best

This book is the best in the series so far.
I was so unsure about it, and was not as interested in it at first. I rewound and listened to chapter 9 twice, (iykyk). Then I was like “something is happening in Damon I need to know about.”

I recommend this because he’s such a complex character.

What a wild and twisted ride!
This book had me sweating and the emotion so roller coaster!!
Y’all ever wondered if the main villain of this series actually has a soul? Well we get to find out in this book!
So much tension and super spicy.
Damon is still on the prowl and has been found by his friends, he can’t hide anymore. He is also on his last chance with his family, friends, and life. We got a taste of his messed up life with Banks in the last book, this book gets a deep dive!
Oh, Winter has returned.
Remember how they all went to jail? And Damon specifically went for the assault of a minor.
Winter was that minor, only she isn’t 16 anymore…..
Trigger warnings for sexual assault and self harm.

"People were priceless. The things we told ourselves to justify giving up and falling in line like we had to accept anything less than what we wanted. Like fighting for your dream was a bad thing."

Been hearing about Damon Torrance and Winter and how they're book is so good, that got me curious that I had to escape the first two books of the serie to read Kill switch and the result is it was okay.
Would I reread it? No

Holy f*cking character development

“Pain in the body quiets the pain in the head. It feels good, like a kill switch for your brain.”

Damon went from the villain, the traitor, the evil and unhinged member of the Four Horsemen to the most realistic character of the series. He’s deeply flawed, traumatised and locked in his mind. And his mind? It’s off its axis. He’s unstable. He’s unhinged. He’s out for blood.
But you gotta love the whole redemption arc. Penelope did a wonderful job at humanising Damon and explaining how his mind works, how everything that he does is a result of everything he’s been through.

I loved seeing little glimpses into his relationship with Will, Banks, Winter and the rest of the group. Every single one of his relationships is different. And it’s surprising how well he goes about it. He’s a good player and a manipulator, capable of seeing the bigger picture and planning for the long haul. But he does care about his friends. Speaking of which, his developing friendship with Rika was fascinating. I loved every single scene they had together. They were so much alike. So when the plot twist hit, it made so much sense!

The scene between Damon and Will… the angst, the emotional pain, the tension, the comebacks, the spice… excuse me! I am more convinced now than ever that if Penelope ever decides to write an MM romance, she will end us all.

“You teach your daughter to hide in everyone else’s world, and I’ll teach mine everyone else exists in hers.” If this doesn’t speak volumes about the kind of father Damon would make… I don’t know what does. I liked finding that easter egg Pen planted.

The romance and spice, the back and forth, the perfect enemies to lovers… these are just a few of the reasons why I would never get over this book. It’s not everybody’s cup of tea. It’s dark and toxic, but if you’re into that, then you’ll love this book. Please read the trigger warnings before jumping in.
