this is my roman empire, absolute favorite one of the only books i think of rereading. Damon the unhinged dark unbothered and absolutely unforgettable mmc .
Like many others before me, the first part of the book… or better yet most of the book just didn’t hit it as much as the other two.
The first two books of the series have been much more enjoyable to navigate through and learn about the characters, so much so that when it came to Damon’s book I was just so excited to start it. Needles to say, the excitement died shortly and did not appear again, of course and with no surprise, until the last 20% of the book.
Still enjoyed the book, just wished the interesting parts would not just be thrown in the last 30 pages.

The first half of this book was so boring. I couldn't stand Damon, I didn't care what he had to say. But the last half of the book was INSANE. So many twists and turns, and fantastic turnaround for him! I couldn't put it down!
It was a good book in the sense that we got to see Damon’s pov finally and I liked looking through Winters perspective throughout the book. I like how they were both connected throughout their lives and I’m not surprised by Damon and wills relationship.
Finding out that Damon has TWO Sisters was jaw dropping and that his trauma about his “mother” was deemed as fine by his dad because they weren’t actually related is baffling. Sorry but Damon has shitty parents. He didn’t deserve what had happened to him and I think he would’ve been a VERY different person if it wasn’t for that trauma.
What happened to winters family? Did she just forget that they exist? I get that a lot happened throughout this book but I need more information on her family because they just disappear half way through the book. Also I was kind of expecting a better ending; it just ended suddenly and I wouldn’t be bothered by it if we continued to see Damon’s pov in the next book but I know it will be based on Alex and will so I feel like we’re missing out in some areas.
This book was pretty good. I’d say better than the previous one but not as good as the first!

Enjoyed it more that I expected given that Damon scared the shit out of me in the 1st book and was such a villain that I was apprehensive to read the entire book about him. By the end of the 2d though I empathized with him and knew I won’t be able to resist and budge on his story. As expected based on all the reviews I heard, I ended up if not loving him but definitely understanding him and willing to forgive and have a fresh start for him.
The ending was a bit rushed for me, some scenes at the end could be easily avoided and turned to a better plot twists. Anyway, definitely the best book of the series so far.

4.75. I love Damon. I love his arc. I love his thought process. Winter trying to establish her independence and having to adapt her dreams was a beautiful story too.
