This is an eye-opening graphic novel memoir about activism, journalism, and growing up in war-torn Syria by Muhammad Najem, who began reporting on the conflict in Syria using social media when he was a teen. I think students who have read When Stars are Scattered will also be gripped by this story.

HIGHLY recommend this book!! It's a little extra heartbreaking now though as Muhammad is doing live coverage of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria and so you see scenes of him in this book with rubble from airstrikes and realize these poor people went through so much so recently. But while the topic is heavy, this book has humor, tons of love and empathy, and a lot of hope.
