A very enjoyable book for me. I really liked Nino the MMC's son he was so cute and sweet. I will say I guessed part of the plot twist early on in the book but honestly, it wasn't that hard to guess. The plot was compelling and the heroine was interesting to read about. The H isn't that memorable to me but I wouldn't say that I don't like him.

Wow. Just wow. I always get sucked into these stories and they will not let go until I finish them. Every book of hers I have read and loved. This one is no different. You will love this story! I really enjoyed it. I couldn’t put it down once I started it!
I gratefully received an advance reader copy for an honest review.

I REALLY enjoyed this book. It was way more action than I’m used to but I’m glad I stepped out of my comfort zone.
This book is a standalone but part of the Underworld kings series. A series I will be reading more of. It had a grip on me from the beginning!
-Dark Mafia
-Nanny/Single Dad
-Suspensful
-TRUE enemies to lovers (meaning they actually want to☠️ each other)
*the TRUE enemies to lovers is something I really enjoyed. They were constantly plotting the others demise up and it made for even more amazing tension.
*One of my favorite things is a good character development. When the guy is a complete jerk and through the book he evolves into a better person. He doesn’t have to completely change. Actually, I prefer if he doesn’t. But I like a character to learn from mistakes and situations through the book. Alessio’s character develops perfectly to me. He’s still kind of a jerk but to her he’s not anything harsh and mean as he starts out like.
*The mystery behind Natalia and watching it unfold had me on the edge of my seat. I didn’t see all of the twists coming (just some of them. There were a few). It was so much more than just a nanny and a single dad.
*The incorporation of ASL and Natalia’s not speaking was done so well. It made their "language barrier" beautiful!
*Nino! The little boy was perfect. I love when a kid can add to the story and he was perfect.
Quotes:
"Liars are my least favorite life form"
"You never know what lurks in the dark"
"I’m not supposed to like the bad guy, and if I do, it means there is something deeply wrong with me."
This is a book I would have never picked up if it wasn’t for Katrina and our Traveling Book Club, but I’m soooo glad I did. I can’t wait to read more from this series.
“They are only scars. Wear them like a badge of honor. Show the world you are a survivor. There is nothing to be ashamed of.”
Here comes Zavarelli snatching my heart once again. I love her book Ghost and Alexei owns my heart but Alessio comes close.
I didn’t have that many expectations for the book, I picked up because I read it was with a single dad and I’m weak for the trope.
Alessio was a pleasant surprise: ruthless but a marshmallow on the inside, awkward, lost and a bit shy and insecure. Natalia went through so much and you feel for her. While the reasons for her revenge are very predictable, you still have fun reading the book and become eager for their happy ending.
I really liked the mafia aspect in the book. I especially loved how the author didn’t hold back and showed us what Alessio exactly does. The organization itself seems to be very interesting and worthy to be explored.
Now now. A book for Arabella and Angelo, yes pls?

This is an interesting romance. It had a lot of twists and I had fun with it. The heroine is hired as a nanny for the hero's 6-year-old son. The hero is part of an organization similar to the mafia. The heroine has damage to her vocal cords and can't speak. I loved the son, Nino, he was so cute. The heroine has a traumatic past and is hiding so many secrets. The pacing was a little off at times but overall it was a good romance.
Kingdom Fall by A. Zavarelli is a complete standalone, but if you've read The Society Trilogy she cowrote with Natasha Knight, then you'll be familiar with IVI and the world this story takes place in. I personally loved those books, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the connection. In fact, I hope there is more to come, because this new addition to the IVI world is every bit as incredible as the last!
Alessio Scarcello, a.k.a. The Debt Collector, needs a nanny to take care of his son, Nino, while he's away on jobs torturing people for information. He doesn't want to hire anyone within IVI, the secret society in which he belongs, because perspective candidates view the position as a precursor to marriage. Instead, he holds interviews and selects Natalia Cabrera, a woman from outside the organization that peaks his interest in more ways than one. Little does he know, she has some ulterior motives of her own.
I fucking loved this book! If you're like me, and hesitant to try standalones in multi-author series, don't let that be a factor in your decision when it comes to this one. Alessio and Natalia's story isn't mediocre in the slightest. A. Zavarelli is an amazing storyteller, and she clearly put her all into this one.
The mystery, suspense, slowburn romance, emotional torment, violence, twists, and turns are nothing short of perfection, but the angsty push and pull, undeniable chemistry, and delicious sex put it over the top! Alessio and Natalia are amazing characters that I won't soon forget. Don't be surprised if you see this book on my favorites of the year list!
Dark mafia romance and romantic suspense fans, this one's for you!
