This was one of those stories that grabbed me from the first page and kept me until the last page. I was mesmerized for lack of a better word. The mystery of the characters and their individual motivations had my mind scrambling to try and come up with plausible answers.
Add in pumping hot chemistry, a unique female lead character that had a disadvantage of how she communicates, and a smoking hot leading man and the book became exceptional. I'm not sure of whether the sneak peek/introduction of two characters at the end is going to be written by this author or someone else in this interconnected world or what. Either way, I'm going to want to read it.

Wow, usually not into dark romance (when it’s really dark and graphic I mean) and mafia stuff. HOWEVER. THIS BOOK HAD ME IN ITS GRIPS YALL.
Idk what was in this, but it consumed me from start to finish. I was on the edge of my seat, I didn’t know what was going to happen! What a wild ride.
I LOVED Natalia (fmc) For a character who physically cannot speak it doesn’t hold her back from letting others know how she feels and standing her ground.
Also for the record not many books get me to cry but I was sobbing at the end for multiple reasons. I almost didn’t want it to end because of how attached to their story I was.
[[check CW & TW before reading this one for sure]]

Natalia Cabrera is scarred from a car accident when she was younger, has paralyzed vocal cords, with a degree in early childhood education, is one of the applicants. She has skeletons that she hopes are hidden far enough in the closet and never come out. She lost friends who only wanted to help her, and she won’t risk anyone else. Her job is not what it seems….but.. her attraction to him is beyond what she expected.
A Zavarelli is an extremely skilled writer. One who knows just what to write to grab attention and hold it until you are done. This is an excellent book. I love reading her work. I highly recommend this book! There is a great deal of surprises in store when you read this. Some you won’t expect! I hope you read this! I know you’ll love it.

I started this book thinking it’d be a typical nanny + single father mafia romance (you know the type), but wow did I get a gripping story instead!
Natalia was a great heroine (forged in fire), and I could understand Alessio’s actions even if I didn’t always like them.
Audiobook was great, and some parts were difficult to stomach (check for TWs), but I was captivated by the storytelling.
A surprise hit — I’m definitely going to check out other books by this author.

Alessio Scarcello is a complete recluse. They call him The Debt Collector. He always gets answers from people and to whomever needs them one way or the other.
Alessio has a child under his care. He does what he can to run a tight ship and keep the child, Nino, safe as possible. But Alessio is not necessarily a nurturing person. He is seeking a nanny who can care for Nino the way that he deserves to be treated.
We meet Natalia. She doesn’t speak. Or rather can’t due a traumatic accident. So she uses a phone app to talk for her. She may not be able to use her voice but she is sassy, honest, upfront, and definitely uses the phone app to speak her mind and is the only person that genuinely stands up for this little boy Nino.
“I don’t need a wife and a nanny. I simply need someone to keep Nino on track in the ways I cannot. Someone who can provide the qualities I lack and the empathy to maintain his humanity.”
This was such a unique book because it did not go the way that I thought it was going to go. It definitely kept me engaged in reading the book. There are definitely plot twists I did not see coming. Alessio can tell that Natalia has gone through some stuff in her life with all the scars she’s got on her body, the squeaky clean background check doesn’t feel right to him. But he’s definitely intrigued by her mothering instincts to Nino and how quickly Nino warmed up to her. And really preferred Natalia over Alessio.
We do find out right off the bat that Nino is not Alessio’s biological son. So who is?
What happened to Natalia that she can’t speak and has scars covering her throat and wrists? Why does she sleep with shoes on?
The people surrounding Alessio are sketchy as hell. Natalia is definitely holding a shit load of shocking secrets.
This was my first book from this author and it definitely will not be my last. I absolutely loved it

The book gives you mafia, single dad, sex and even jealousy. The H still has his V card and honestly that made me very hesitant to read this. I didnt want to read about someone who didnt know what they were doing and was all thumbs. The author pulled it off but explaining how he knew what to do but still it was very awkward for me to read that part.

I can’t remember this book for the life of me. That’s disappointing as hell because I love me some organized crime romances. Maybe I don’t understand the whole mafia society but why does marrying someone allow the FMC to get away with murder? Like I don’t care who she murdered it just doesn’t make sense to me?
The ‘plot twist’ was stupid. Anyone with microscopic brain cells could see where that was going. Idk the whole drama just seemed so unnecessary. Please just give me a hot mafia romance. Is that really so hard?
I did love the child though( I completely forgot his name), and the way his father( I also forgot his name) built their relationship. This book is so meh idek what to rate it
