abby howard knocks it out of the park again! I don't think I can put into words how much I love these stories. There's a great balance of horror and sadness mixed into these pages, with a diverse cast I've come to expect from abby howard. it's kind of amazing how she can have you recoiling in horror on one page and then laughing at silly background details in the next. if you love body horror, this collection is for you.

my only complaint is a slight one, and that's with the last story and a possible case of disfiguremisia (prejudice against disfigured people). there is a "jump scare" that is a close up of a disfigured face. this is common in horror, and ends up being subverted very quickly, but I still think is important to point out.

MASSIVE WARNING: this book contains gore and lots of body horror and the first story has mentions of homophobia and conversion therapy

Overall there were a few stories I really enjoyed, some that were okay, and some that weren't my taste. There was only one story that I felt was a bit too much and didn't have enough story to be satisfying enough to balance it out. I kind of wish some of them were longer just because the premise was so interesting that I wanted more!

Easily my favourite was the last one, 'Kindred Spirits'. it was the most narratively satisfying and although the least gorey, it still maintained a good creep factor.

The art style was interesting and really fit the horror, but still managed to portray cute or funny moments. There's so much incredible detail for better or worse. The author really has a talent for body horror lol

A definite recommend for horror fans!
