I couldn’t get behind her. It felt like she was complaining the whole time.

This would've been really great as a collection of essays, rather than a full memoir. As it is, I felt like there was a lot of filler and awkward transitions between chapters/stories.

I believe in transparency so let me start this off with I know Clarkisha Kent personally and I helmed the marketing campaign for the book’s preorders.

That all being said, I was completely unprepared for what I read.

Fat Off, Fat On was an insight into our friendship that I didn’t know could exist. It made me even more thankful to be friends with such a wonderful, loving, brilliant person. It mirrored my own experiences as a fat queer disabled person of colour and allowed me to see a world in which my identities aren’t a mark against me but part of what makes my life and perspective unique and beautiful.
