Just. Read it. So funny such clever writing I have nothing more to say. No criticism at all.

Lovely abstraction floating into everyday life. Brazilian main character a plus.

Quite a lark—very tongue-in-cheek even when dealing with serious themes. I'd love to see how actors have interpreted some of the non-dialogue notes (e.g., so-and-so sits, so-and-so stands, so-and-so forgives so-and-so-2). Read for the latest in the Table Reads, Pandemic Style series, and I think this one was a group favourite (up there with [b:All in the Timing|186634|All in the Timing, Six One-Act Comedies - Acting Edition|David Ives|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1386924300l/186634._SY75_.jpg|180406] and [b:Intimate Apparel|1220105|Intimate Apparel|Lynn Nottage|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1580175545l/1220105._SX50_.jpg|72734533]).

I particularly appreciate that there's no clear villain here, and while I'd argue that there's a clear enough hero, none of the characters is (or is meant to be) entirely sympathetic. (Also. I'm quite pleased that I didn't end up with a character who spoke even the slightest amount of Portuguese. Know thy limits.)

"A perfect joke is somewhere between an angel and a fart." this quote got me to read this play and it was well worth it

While sparse, this play holds nothing back to create a heart-wrenching tale of humor and loss. Human connection is at the core of this play. Centered around the kind of mad-cap, unbelievable situation only found on ridiculous soap operas, it's all too conceivably true. I particularly enjoyed Lane's journey of self-discovery as a woman trying o hard to gain something that matters so much less than she thought.
