its okay, i guess? i feel like the writing style could be a little better though. some of the parts describing the female characters felt male gazey.

i also dont like the attempt to replicate accents, it makes the writing more weirder and clunkier to read, instead of feeling more authentic.

amazing concept, fabulous plot, but i hated steven kings writing style it frustrated me so much, by the end i was so done with it, I wasn’t enjoying it.

in theory it’s a 4 star read because it’s just such a clever, empathetic and almost empowering story to young bullied girls. if it was written in a better writing style, this would be a true masterpiece to me. also it needs way more descriptive gore at the end because it’s hardly a horror, but generally descriptive and poetic language would completely elevate all aspects of this story!!!

This is one where I do not get the hype. I feel like the character are super underwritten. Structure of the book has this interesting style where it shows in universe interviews and reports about the incident. But they don't really provide anything interesting, like a different perspective or thematic dissonance. A lot of it was spent on theories about the powers that didn't matter at all.
