The 1928 Lake Okeechobee Hurricane: Or, Don't Live Near a Floodable Lake!

When I was assigned the deadly natural disaster of the Okeechobee Hurricane for a podcast assignment for Parcast, I knew the only way to really understand what happened on September 16th, 1928 was to read about it in a book.

This book provided a pretty basic, substandard snapshot of the incident. It wasn't too deep or informative, nor was it written well. If one was looking for real-life accounts from survivors of the hurricane, this is not that book. It's all very basic information, so look elsewhere for the human drama.
