This book is complex to rate as it has many high points and many lows. The good is seen in the story of James and Oliver, the prose being a mix of screenplay and standard book writing and the complexities of other characters such as Meredith. Where there's ups there's also downs, the main twist/motive for the villain is poorly executed and really makes the whole thing fall short. Characters such as Alexander and Wren are poorly explored, with things just stated then ignored. I enjoyed it for the most part, but the characters that fall more lackluster make the book fall short and lag behind.

This is a shakespear play about college age kids doing Shakespeare. Such a wild book about mystery, how complicated life can be, not knowing how you feel at that age, with a murder plot!! This is an excellent book.

This book will forever be my favorite. I think it's genius and important. I will write an essay review later. All my love to Alexander, even if he's not the focus of the book

The dark academia equivalent to the glee club :
• gay nerds
• bullies
• all sleeping with one another
• kind of a cult
• powerful blonde female teacher who has favors their most cruel students

I loved this book. It was so addictive and compelling. I loves the atmosphere and being I oliver's manic head and I am going to miss it. Maybe not the most crazy complex intricate plot but I don't mind. It made it accessible.
Worth the hype

Heerlijk boek.

Absolutely amazing read! I am Secret History obsessed, and so this was the perfect book. The aesthetic was immaculate, the imagery was incredibly detailed and beautiful (although awful and obsessive and violent). I loved the writing style, and the incorporation of Shakespeare quotes was fantastic--and this is coming from someone who is certainly NOT a big fan of Shakespeare. Every play fit perfectly into the narrative, from Lear to Romeo and Juliet to, of course, Caesar. There were so many scenes that broke me, so many that made me reflect--and THAT ENDING.  OH MY GOD. I don't think I will heal from that for a long time.

James+Oliver forever <3
