another Leigh slay (that rhymes for a reason).

this book was so cool.

found family is probably my favourite trope, and the execution in this one was *chefs kiss*

I loved all the characters so it is a little bit hard to choose favourites but I think my favourite is Nina 🤭 she's just so cool.
I also adore the enemies to lovers part of Nina and Mathias... absolute perfection. (he was added to my book boyfriends ofc)

all the characters are freaking amazing and they are my babies fr.

the first like 50 pages are a little bit slower than the rest of the book and it's definitely a bit confusing (although it helps if you read shadow and bone before this). but it definitely picks up after that. and it's written in third person even with a bunch of different povs but I did get used to it. but I do think it would be better in first person with this amount of povs (I hope this makes sense). but again, I got used to it and the plot became too good for me to even care about it.

I'm just absolutely obsessed with this and I can't wait to read the sequel.

I really liked the plot of the book and did not expect the ending to be so questioning! Overall I really think this fits in with the Grishaverse.

I really liked this book and the whole fandom including things on Pinterest. It just was a bit long compared to what I normally read but I did like it.

Convoluted plot lines that even the reader doesn't understand until all is said and done. Never too predictable, and we love some good bisexual tension ;)

"I'm a business man," he'd told her. "No more, no less. " "You're a thief, Kaz." "Isn't that what I just said?"

this book surprised me. it was an incredible read, full of sharp retorts, unlikely alliances and bravery that comes only when you have nothing to lose. I usually find it hard to get into the world that a fantasy novel creates but this book made it so easy to be entranced by the Grisha and the Fjerdans and the thieves and everyone else. I understand why there's a show related to this series now that I've read this. can't wait to read the next book in this duology. would highly recommend!

I’m not sure that I was exactly the right audience for this book as I had to imagine the characters about 10 years older to find it believable. I also found the worldbuilding of each country being loosely based on real countries to be lazy at best and loosely offensive at worst. That said, I like the plot well enough, especially towards the end. All the twists were super effective and I will be reading the sequel
