While the science-fiction aspect behind it is epic, this was so convoluted, and boring at times. You could cut about 300 pages from this book and tell the exact same story.

Super interesting premise and follow through. Typical themes and ideas for Tchaikovsky but with a thriller spin. Pacing from 40-75% was slow to get through and a bit repetitive. Also found it odd how often the characters referenced their own “Britishness” but like maybe British people are just like that? Alison was my favorite character though I think the romance element should’ve been removed from her story.

I do not read many true Science Fiction books; mostly ones that are 500+ pages. This book was a special gift so I started reading it, as you can see by how long it took me to read. Yes it is about two girls; their journey, and their conclusion. But it’s all the in-between that is complex... this book takes time to read, many characters, many worlds, many personalities....... you need to take it slow; or you end up re-reading pages you have read... like me... lol. The best part of the book was the last 1/5...it finally all comes together and makes sense. I have it three stars because of the complexity in which I’m not use to. It deserves between 3 1/2-4....
Tchaikovsky is consistently the author with the most creative ideas/plots in scifi. His books always stick with me, even years later, and this one will be no different.
