One of the most depressing novels I've ever read!!! Riveting!!!
dark

sad
fast-paced
I just felt like the ending didn’t live up to the greatness of the rest of the book. Specifically the last chapter. I felt like there was so much more that could have been done to end the book with regard and omen to the various characters that developed throughout the story, yet it was ended on a disappointing note. A book this grand and well-executed deserves an ending that matches. Maybe I will re-read it again someday and feel differently.

Story was slow in parts, but his writing is beautiful. Easy to see how it won a Pulitzer.
Really loved this book, but will have to ponder my review on a full sized computer. Maybe even after the book club meets.
I just couldn't get into it. If I have to wait 200 pages to get into a book, you've lost me. I struggled so hard. In the end, I just couldn't finish it. I would fall asleep after reading just a chapter. If you are into history and don't mind not having a lot of dialogue for what seems like an eternity at first, then this book is for you.
After all the fuss about this book I was actually kind of disappointed. I don't say it wasn't good but I just expected a little more. It was still enjoyable and it didn't took too long to finish it.
