Very interesting read across a variety of facets of 14th century society, well written - much like a modern day reference guide, best read in little bits

Despite the fact that I took years to read this book, I really enjoyed it. It was my "gap book", for when I was between other things.

I found this book very interesting. It’s written as though you are actually in medieval England. The descriptions of the sights, sounds and smells are very vivid. Actually, all of the descriptions are very vivid - the people, the food, the law, the diseases, the jobs, what people like to do for fun, etc. It was all very informative. One thing is for sure, I probably wouldn’t want to visit there, let alone live there! Very enjoyable and educational though!
I felt like this book was very informative. I read a lot of interesting stuff that I don't think you would usually think of if the book hadn't been written in the format it was. Although the book wasn't about things that happened in the middle ages, I feel like I know what it was like to live in those times now. I'm not used to reading non-fiction so I had trouble every now and again. Just getting used to reading a non-fiction book in the way I would read a fiction I guess. But I am glad I pulled through, it was definitely a good read.
