The Time Traveler's Guide to Medieval England: A Handbook for Visitors to the Fourteenth Century

This was a very informative but also very interesting book on what it would have been like to live in 14th century England. Whether you’re researching this time period or just looking to learn something, definitely check it out! (The audiobook narrator was great, too.)
This book has been on my “want to read” list for years, so I was delighted when I found a used copy for £2 last week.
It wasn’t remotely what I expected. The idea was good - a guide (Ian Mortimer) taking you on a tour of Medieval England, describing everything in present tense. While I appreciate the work and dedication it took to achieve such detail, the book was so dry that I found myself bored quite often and forcing myself to finish. That is NOT normal for me with anything history-related, and that speaks volumes about the less-than-ideal execution of a splendid book idea.
I appreciated some facts I learned along the way, but mostly this was a hard book to get through (not as in challenging, as in majorly dull), and I drank lots of tea and coffee to help keep me awake through it.

I only had to read five specific chapters for a class and I don't have time to read the rest at the moment but I want to! This is no dry, boring history book. Very engaging.
Very enjoyable and informative book concerning life in 14th century England. The writing style was conversational, the details interesting, and I learned a few tidbits. Not a very deep history, but great for getting a "bird's eye view" of the life of the average person.

Really difficult to keep track of who and when we were talking. Would be easier to read in a visual format so I could flip back and forth easier.
