I honestly cannot begin to rate this book. It was horrifying and deeply unnerving in ways I don’t think I’ll ever be able to explain lol Nick Cutter really has a way of making horrific books! If you want to lose a little bit of your sanity then please give this one read :))))
My skin is still crawling. I don’t know what to think of this yet, because it effectively made me feel disgusted and scared. Not sure if that is good or if I hated this. But I do know this definitely pushed my limits right to the edge, which I didn’t know before this book was a limit I had. The seemingly unending scenes of graphic animal violence made me cry, and my dog will be reaping the benefits of extra snuggles and treats tonight.

This is the most disturbing book I have ever read, hands down. Not a bad book--not by any stretch. But do not read it if you're not ready to be challenged. Humanity is cultivated and expressed only to be constantly torn away in this book (kind of like life). The balance between love and human experience and absolute depravity is striking and somewhat nauseating.

Felt like a Bentley Little book; a bunch of random creepy/gross stuff crammed into a book without much plot in between. Flashbacks were boring. I should have stopped reading the first (or twelfth) time a character unironically said "brother of mine." SIBLINGS DO NOT TALK T HFF AT WAY GOOD NIGHT.

Kind of a slog. There’s a lot of fatphobia in this.
