dark tense slow-paced

This one took a bit to get going and once it did and the dust settled in the end, it didn't leave an entirely good taste in my chomper. But the in between was pretty good. And after two books with Cutter, one thing I can assure you he does well is gore. This one here is The Abyss meets Event Horizon meets The Thing with four extra parts gross thrown on top. It's a decent combo save the aforementioned beginning and end.

Started stronger than it finished. The Stephen King stylistic mimicry got annoying. *Italics* has entered the chat. Even King doesn’t use it much anymore.

This book, with its bland title and generic looking cover art, totally exceeded my expectations. 4.7 rounded up to a 5. It didn’t totally stick the landing, but it was a great ride.
