“Some things you hear with your ears. Others, you hear with your heart.”

Alright, I understand the hype of this series now. I feel like this series now has a clear direction to follow, and I am absolutely invested in where it goes. The characters have much more dimension and development in this book. It's hard to believe that this came from the same realm as Throne of Glass, and it is astronomically better.

Ugh this one hurt.
Chaol, I was rooting for you, how dare you! She was finally happy 😭 After what happened, it made me not even want to pick the book up for a while which is why it took me so long to finish this dang book.
I think the ending of this book resolved it as well as it could be. But I’m still low key sad lol.

A LOT happens in this book to move the plot along and answer questions from book 1. The romantic aspect of this book kicks up and is also very… emotional, we’ll say. I think I liked this more than book 1 because the FMC develops more emotionally and matures. There are still the, albeit, rare potholes sometimes or things that get glazed over. But I’ve learned some of those might come to light in the next book since that happened a bit between books 1 and 2. The most common issue is that some of the plotting/scheming the main characters do seems a bit unlikely to be good enough to fool the enemy, but this is also a fictional story so I’m trying not to overthink it. I’m kinda sad that the next book is a prequel which means I’m leaving this current timeline, but I’m eager to learn more about what the heck is going on with the FMC’s “history.”
