Dystopian Chosen One to Save the Stars
This is a YA dystopian novel following Casper as he is ripped from his life on Earth to save the people of Novilem. While he is there he meets so many people, but not everyone is to be trusted. Casper has to figure out his new role as the Telos and find out who he can trust to help him save their world. I really loved the relationship development and how Casper has to grow in his beliefs in order to truly save the people of Novilem. The characters get a HFN ending with a slight cliffhanger. This book is a great read for someone who likes dystopian worlds, a chosen one hero, fish out of water and found family tropes. Please check your triggers, this book deals with forced outing, betrayed and disowned by family and friends for who you love.

An engrossing YA Sci-Fi/Fantasy novel that will transport you to a planet where people have different powers and abilities based on their astrological signs. Loved the world building, magic system, and heartfelt characters, as well as the political intrigue.
Our protagonist, Casper, has recently been outed and faced rejection and violence from both peers and family. After encountering a strange, magical beast in an alleyway, he ends up getting taken to a hidden city called Novelim. While on the surface, this places seems very accepting, Casper quickly learns there are a lot of shady going-ons within the government. Casper is on a journey of acceptance and just figuring out life and what the hell is going on when he meets Helix. Their tender, slow burn romance adds another layer to this beautiful story. Loved that they had good communication and talked it out every time there was an issue.
I will say, I'm not always interested in politics in books, but I enjoyed learning about the impending rebellion and sordid truth of the government. It added a bit of mystery to the plot and I thought it was a nice touch. There were some pacing issues for me about halfway in where I felt like it dragged a bit. Other than that, my only qualm was that I wished the entire book had the emotional exploration of the first several chapters. There could have been more growth with Casper but I think that just got lost a big with all that was going on with the plot.
Overall, I loved this and am excited tor read more from this author! Highly recommend on audio, the narrator is phenomenal!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book, and at the time of receiving, the author was very clear that CIRCLE OF STARS still had one final edit to go though, so for those reasons, I am going to refrain from reviewing some aspects of the writing, and focus on the overall plot, characters, and message of the story.
Overall... Absolutely beautiful.
This story was poignant and uplifting with the overall message of accepting oneself and following your heart to do what's right.
The inventiveness of the magic system and using astrological signs was genius and so well done. The characters were well formed and genuine. And the world building was thorough.
I highly enjoyed and recommend, CIRCLE OF STARS.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The first third of the book was a bit difficult to get through. It has a lot of world building and a lot of new terms and names get thrown at you really fast. I found it confusing to keep up with, but the Author sent out a glossary of terms and character descriptions and it really helped me to better understand the story.
I was anxious for our two main characters to meet, and it felt like the story dragged a little until they did, but then the plot took off running! That’s when I really got interested in the book and started to enjoy it.
I think moving forward, that glossary and character list will go a long way to helping people understand and appreciate the world building which is really unique and quite lovely!
