I don't know how Jason Shiga makes this comic sooo good all the way through. Jimmy Yee, our protagonist, has the body-jumping powers of Doro (of Octavia Butler's [b:Seed to Harvest|60924|Seed to Harvest (Patternmaster, #1-4)|Octavia E. And from page 1, he is really done being alive, but quickly realizes he's not going to get the death he's aiming for.

The plotting and storytelling with minimal text is fantastic. I read the entire first volume laaaate at night in one shot and was into it the whole time. Eager to get through the remaining 3 volumes!

Fire.

The style of art mixed with the crudeness of the story and the creatively psychological writing style of Jason shiva is astonishing, It pushes the limits of a "cartoony" art style with an intellectually stimulating story.

Critics of cartoonists and comics beware. This is gold.

“Demon” was creative. I liked it a lot in spite of the fact that it was super gory and gross at times.

Great opener to a crazy imaginative series. After reading the whole run, I have to give it 4 starts just because the later volumes are so much better.

I mean, look. There's a very simple test here.
Are you interested in the dark comedy of a guy stabbing himself with a knife made of paper that's been hardened/lacquered with his own semen? If yes, proceed. If no, move onto the next book.

Jason Shiga is the coolest. This book goes all. Out. High concept stuff can fall flat sometimes, but this comic TOTALLY delivers. Honestly, it's better if you just read it yourself and figure out the concept, but in case you're curious:
SpoilerBasically, this dude figures out that if he kills himself he just comes back to life as the person who is physically closest to him.
Instead of thinking about the moral and ethical quandaries involved in this, this descends into the pulpiest, most violent, hilarious, ridiculously raunchy gore fest. I cannot wait to see where it goes in future volumes. Genius insanity, I love it.

Oh, definitely not for kids. Definitely definitely.

Such a strange journey. This book is equal parts gory and engrossing.

Somehow ended up being even better than I expected. It's very self aware and pretty hilarious.
