And I have finished the series! I'm happy to have completed it and sad that it is over at the same time.
This final installment in the Gallagher Girls series has our favorite Gallagher girls Cam, Bex, Macey, and Liz literally trying to save their friends, their world, and the actual world. Thank god they have Zach, Cam's mom, Aunt Abby, and others to help them and back them up.
This book was equal parts thrilling, intense, sweet, and psychotic. Something is holding back from me giving it 5 stars, and to be honest I am not sure what that is, but I still really enjoyed this book and ready it pretty quickly. So do yourself a favor, pick is book up, and finish the wild ride that was the Gallagher Girls series! Then read Carter's Heist Society series if you haven't already!

Now THIS is a series finale!! I read this book in two sittings over the course of a single day and it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I thought it was a fitting end for the main characters (although if this were written in a post-marriage equality world, I think Bex and Liz would have been canonically dating and you cannot change my mind on that), and Liz's speech at the end did in fact make me cry. A fitting end to a series that I've loved for so many years, and one that I definitely think I'll continue to come back to in the future. <3
I've read through this series twice now. Once one year ago, and because I was so stressed I almost burned out last spring, I've conveniently forgotten every single detail and plot twist, so I got to experience it all again. And I mean, I like it? But there are also big things that annoy the shit out of me. It's a truth (not, unfortunately) universally acknowledged that all stories with a female main cast benefits from some lesbianism. I do remember that I was fed up with the extreme heterosexuality already when I read it the first time. I was so fed up that I was actually worried Ally Carter might be voting Trump in the election; that she's homophobic, but after keeping her twitter feed closely monitored that fortunately isn't the case. She's still not very good at making her cast (sexually) diverse, though. So that's boring.
And the other thing is Zach, or more particularly the way he calls Cammie "Gallagher Girl" like OH MY GOD SHE HAS A NAME JUST USE IT YOU PRETENTIOUS DOUCHEBAG [imagine the Andrew Garfield desperation in this exclamation, please]. Please for the love of god just call her by her actual name. This second round I've listened to the audio books and there the nickname gets even more annoying because I can't just make my eyes skip over it.
(And also, the narrator for these books? Sounds way too old. I do not approve.)
I guess what keeps me going through this series is the potential the story has. I LOVE reading a whole series about girl spies. It empowers me, truly, from within. No matter how heterosexual it is and how annoying the boy is.
Oh well. The Embassy Row is on my local audiobook streaming service so I'll just move along, now.

What is a Gallagher Girl? Well...we’re about to find out.
United We Spy answers so many questions about who Gallagher Girls are and just what role they have in the future of both normal and spy worlds – and we get to finally see a conclusion to the terrorist-style group that is the Circle of Cavan.
Unlike previous books, while we start this one as though off to another school semester, it can’t end that way. The danger was amped up in the last book. The Circle of Cavan doesn’t play safe or fair when it comes to staying in power, and our favourite Gallagher Girls, Blackthorne Boys and amazing adults are racing against an unknown clock to stop the Circle leaders from grabbing more power and destroying the world – and I don’t think I’m exaggerating with that statement. It’s an intense journey! While there are some differences, I’m glad the increasing danger patterns continued in this one; it’s hard to go back to the innocent, carefree spy-school days again. There’s never a dull moment for Cammie and the gang.
Cammie has an interesting struggle throughout United We Spy. We know she was always going to spend time struggling against The Circle of Cavan, but the strange part was her questioning her spy-future at the same time. I liked how humanising this was. She’s not above recognising that the spy life, while all she’s known and wanted to do her whole life, has its dangers. I liked watching her try and decide on her future and come to terms with who she is the most.
I mentioned danger a lot – it needs another mention and a warning for heart attack inducing moments! Ally Carter had me all sorts of nervous throughout 90% of this book...it’s unavoidable and at the same time fun! The danger was mixed in with a few incredible twists, making this book one of the best Gallagher Girls books ever! (my favourite is still #5 – but not to say United We Spy is any less awesome!)
I loved seeing all out favourite characters again, and I’m so sad the series is over, especially because I feel like I was only just introduced to the Gallagher Girls. I will miss them...but there’s always re-reads!
5/5 stars
(ps. Super special bonus scene was amazing. I almost think it should be read before the epilogue, but it was another nice little scene to make me smile!)

Raising tension, more and more problems, this time out of the school and the team on their own. I loved they were no longer taught and that they were on their own. They are showing their strengths on their own, but at the same time, I missed lots of things. The story jumps from one place to another and there are lots of things that I would have loved to know a bit more.
And finally, the ending is too open. I just need to see more of Cammie and how she can see her best friends even if each one is working on a different field or with a different company.
Anyway, great stakes, and a nice wrap up.

I liked this series as a whole except somehow my weird book slump mood appeared again in this book and I don't quite know why since there was action...Zach was in it. (Spoiler alert ahead!) Zach asked Cammie to marry him. But it's back and it pretty much means I'm just going through the reading motions again.
I really don't think it is the book itself since I made it through the series quite quickly. It just makes me sad because I love escaping to a good book.
I'll still give this book a four though since it is me and not the book itself.

This is how a series should end. The great points of this book:
1. I love how although Cammie and friends go as far as half of the world throughout the 6 books, in the end, everything is all resolved at where they come from. That is, the series, after so many branching outs, comes back to its roots. Something not many authors do!
2. I love what Ally did with the characters--we get to see the fate of all characters, including the supporting ones.
3. And that has got to be one of best endings! After so many disappointing epilogues I read...
I'm so sad that GG ends, but I wouldn't want the finale any other way.
