A whole night sky full of stars for this absolutely breathtaking rom-com.

Wow, just, wow this book was just perfect. Chick-Lit with a side serving of very sexy stranger, this was everything I didn't even know I wanted or needed to read. The author's entire back catalogue has just shot to the top of my TBR list for 2022. All I can say is that you need to read this, ASAP.

Fran was so utterly adorable, who could help but fall in love with her? And even though we were never meant to be on #TeamStew, I loved that the author also showed us a decent side to him, eventually. Some elements were perhaps predictable and cliched, but how the author included them and just her sheer brilliance at immersing you inside the story made this an absolute page-turner.

Whilst there is a love interest - and boy is he all things tall, dark and ridiculously gorgeous - this was much more Fran's story. Don't get me wrong, I adored Evan and was 100% invested in the couple getting their HEA, but I was even more committed to following her journey of personal growth and development. It wasn't always an easy path, this book definitely played on my emotions and that ending, *sigh*, was so full of feels!

This has just launched itself straight into my Top 10 reads of the year. It's also left me with a massive book hangover.

Fran's life has been in a rut for longer than she can remember so to try and breathe some joy back in to it she decides to take a mysterious PA job to a very high profile celebrity, Juliette. Fran's main job is to get Juliette to the Crystal Ball, a secret party that caters for the world's most rich and famous in Italy. It's on this night that things will forever change for Fran. Can one night really can change your life?

"Every time I saw him was like the first time. The spark, the rush, the pull..."

I adored Lindsey's I Heart series and other books, so when I seen this on NetGalley I had to request it! It was definitely a cute read, a modern twist on the Cinderella story, but I just couldn't connect with it as much as I wanted to. I loved the premise of it but it was claimed in reviews to be 'wildly romantic' and I just wasn't feeling it. I felt there was a lack of chemistry between the love interest and Fran. Also, the Crystal Ball is hyped as this star studded secret party and the only people Fran meets at it are horrible and snobby. It would have been cute to have an interaction with a famous person, even a fictional one on similar standing to Julliette. Fran was definitely settling with her lot in life so I did like to see her personal transformation, putting herself first.
*
"Normal is subjective. What’s normal to you might be totally fantastical to someone like me..."

Read This If:
* Enjoy pop culture references
* Funny and lighthearted

Summary:
Fran finds herself being the assistant to a huge celebrity, and on a yacht that is heading for Italy and the biggest party of the year. When things don’t go as planned, she encounters Evan. He makes her a promise that neither will reveal any personal information, and they will just enjoy this one night together.

Thoughts:
Do not sleep on this new book. I am not sure what I expected, but I was very surprised by this one. I found it to be funny and lighthearted. I thoroughly enjoyed the pop culture references that were thrown in occasionally. There truly was not one character in this book that I didn’t enjoy or get kick out of. Fran was so funny with her quick one liners, I also was here for work ethic. Evan was just chefs kiss

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to Harper Collins for my copy of this book via Netgalley. I have been a HUGE Lindsey fan for many years and I was very excited to read this one which was deemed a modern-day Cinderella.

This book is hilarious, romantic and fun. Lindsey's books are always full of escapism. As well as a lot of hilarity Lindsey also brings in some food for thought as to if we are where we really want to be in life.

Fran Cooper is such a likeable character. I love her and Jess's relationship. Jess is the best friend we all need in our lives. I also really liked her relationship with Juliette.

I couldn't stand Fran's fiance, Stew. From the moment he appeared on the page I wanted him gone. Fran deserves so much more than him!

This is not a cute little romcom but fits more into the women's fiction category. Yes, there is some romance but it's much more about a woman taking control of her life and learning to follow her dreams.

Perfect uplifting read that will leave you with a smile on your face!

It's not the same without that moment, that chemistry. That split second when your eyes meet and your heart stops and they transform from a stranger into someone, right in front of you. That moment is everything.

When I tell you that this was the book that re-sparked my "speed read" status, I am not joking. I used to be such a quick reader, and adulthood kind of stripped that magic from me. I made the choice to read this book as almost a palette cleanse from a heavier horror phase, and I am SO GRATEFUL that I did.

While an easy read, (finished in about 4 hours) I cannot say enough about how this author envelops you in the moments and makes you feel like you're right there.

Sweet romantic, no major spice (love a good mix of spice and non-spice) and a fantastic reminder that "we're allowed to be happy."

Very much looking forward to reading more from Lindsey!

This book got me cackling in more ways than one. Loved the dry and self-deprecating humor.

Just the escapist read I need.

I feel like it took 50% of the for any real development. Basically full everyday life for Fran. Then finally 75% of book it picks up. However the ending seemed lackluster. The sad thing is Fran is a character I like and development of her wasn’t bad but a tad bit boring.

Overall solid 3 star beach read.

A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

After Francesca Cooper takes on being a PA for a mysterious celebrity for a week (after signing an NDA and going through an extensive interview and everything), her life changes forever.

Fran is such a strong lead, and I loved her character. And the banter between Fran and Evan… I JUST CANNOT. This book had me bursting out laughing, smiling like a madwoman, and clutching my hands to my heart. Definitely gave off Cinderella vibes, and how could you go wrong with a classic like that?! I think I enjoyed it even more because I’ve been reading so many thrillers back-to-back in honor of Halloween, so this lighthearted read was just perfect for me!

This was my first book from Lindsey Kelk, but it definitely won’t be my last. Will definitely be purchasing this book when it comes out on January 18, 2022!

Favorite quote:
“She probably knew my favourite Disney film, when I lost my virginity, and how many times a day I checked Britney Spears’s Instagram. Not that I was obsessed or anything, I just liked to make sure she was OK.”

Made me laugh so hard for some reason
