All-New Wolverine, Volume 3: Enemy of the State II is a very strong continuation of X-23's story as she bears the burden that is the name "Wolverine". And in this book that name is quite a burden; Laura has committed a terrible crime - one that goes against everything she believes in - so she is simultaneously avoiding authorities and seeking revenge.

This is a retelling of a classic Wolverine story. I definitely don't think that every story should be a retelling (and it happens too often, with Marvel), so I understand the criticisms that there is no new substance in Enemy of the State II. Since I haven't read the original Enemy of the State, though, I was left with nothing but enjoyment and surprise for this retelling. We get some sweet moments between Laura and Gabby, plus some incredible redemptive moments for both of them as well.

There are also some genuinely surprising plot twists - ones which didn't feel like cop-outs or deus ex machinas. That's nice, coming from a superhero story.

I'm very sad to already hear rumblings that Logan is coming back to reclaim his mantle. I have really loved following X-23, and one would think Marvel would want to continue cashing in on her recent and very successful movie.

Firstly, I would like to punch kimura. She is a nasty, sadist who deserves to be in a prison in the ground.

Secondly, Gabby calling Remy and Warren and Remy saving Laura and Jean training Laura omg. I am so overwhelmed, issue 17 has been one of my favourites so far in this line of all-new wolverine.

"and i love you." - how can you not love gabby.

"you're not x-23. you're more than a letter and a number. you have a name. you're laura kinney. you're not a puppet. you weren't built. you were born. you're human. you're a hero. you're wolverine."

Gabby's adorable

I loved the Pinocchio parallels

I don't like how the movie has people calling her X-23 cos she's so much more than that

This is such a solid series. Tom Taylor is at the top of his game and Laura has quickly become the one true Wolverine. Trauma and redemption are the defining characteristics of any Wolverine and Taylor finds away to let the light in despite that. There is also a realer sense of family in this series than in any other version of Wolverine I have read.
