Absolutely loved Salazar's second book exploring the current crisis of human rights violations against undocumented immigrants to the United States from the perspective of a young girl. It's a challenging book, and doesn't shy away from the horrors seen in detention facilities, but ultimately provides a little hope that when we listen to immigrant voices, we can make change.

About half of the book takes place in an ICE detention facility, and the main character and her mother both experience abuse at the hands of the wardens. Another young girl confides in the main character that she was sexually assaulted at the last facility she was at.
