Yay! I finally got around to reading this book after having many people tell me FOR YEARS that I would fall in love with the story and they were right!!! What an engaging read! I wish I read this sooner!

This may be the best book I've ever read that did not have a single character in it that I liked a damn bit. That's a hell of a feat to pull off, and one that I hope I never have to experience again.

However, Oscar Wilde's writing makes up for some of this with a series of incredible quotes, such as these two unrelated gems:

People are very fond of giving away what they need most themselves. It is what I call the depth of generosity.

My dear boy, no woman is a genius. Women are a decorative sex. They never have anything to say, but they say it charmingly. Women represent the triumph of matter over mind, just as men represent the triumph of mind over morals.
