I loved the premise, and the book was well written and enjoyable. I just felt like it dragged on for maybe 100 pages too long, so that by the time we hit the twist at the end (which is a good one!) I was exhausted and mostly just happy to be done.

With an interesting premise, the book had me hooked from the beginning. I thought at times that it would be a 5 star read, but there was an unfortunate section of writing for one character I found to be fatphobic which made me quite uncomfortable (this resulted in subtracting 1 star).
From there, the mystery is tense and fast-paced, with many moving pieces that keep you guessing. I was prepared to give it a 4/5 until around the last 100 pages, when the book drops some reveals that felt unearned and in some cases, ridiculous, in your lap.
Overall, I would recommend this if you like mysteries with unusual set ups but definitely warn that it is not perfect. Unsure if I would check out more of this author's work because of the way I found the ending to be scrambled. Definitely a great concept, but the execution was shaky.

verrrryyyy black mirrory and i really liked it. but i wish the ending was better. maybe an epilogue would have helped. the last 20pgs or so should have been the best part but it wasn’t.
Well, well, well...
I know, everybody loved it, adored it, there was so much fuss about this book that I was really looking forward to reading it and... well, I did. And I thought "that's it ?".
I thought it was more a fantastic/fantasy book than a mystery, with the time loop and all. And I do love British mysteries, but there, I couldn't get into it from the start. It just didn't work for me, I didn't feel pulled to it as I expected.
The only thing positive I can say is that I read it entirely anyway, that the plot was tight and that I appreciated the fact that in spite of moving from body to body and keeping his own mind, Aiden was influenced by the personality he inhabited - that was original.
