I really love the realistic representation of disability and the hopefulness of finding healthy respectful relationships when you do have a disability.

This was where and who and how he should be: with Chloe.

I received this from a friend a few years back for my birthday and finally got around to it. This was such a sweet romance full of understanding and mutual adoration.

Chloe deals with chronic pain that can be so debilitating she spends days in bed. Due to this, Chloe has had friends abandon her. While I don’t currently have chronic pain, I was in chronic pain for most of high school. I related so much to Chloe and had people tell me they didn’t believe I was in pain.

Redford “Red” was in an abusive relationship that left him feeling absolutely worthless. He is an artist and struggled after that relationship to feel as if his art mattered.

The two end up supporting each other as they heal and become friends. Red helps Chloe cross things off her “get a life list”, while Chloe helps Red with a new website for his art.

The only issue I had with this book was it was so long!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book. I had heard good things, but I’m only just now getting into the romance genre so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

I was absolutely blown away. While I wish the romance had more build up or implied time knowing each other, it didn’t take me out of the story overall. I found the narration hilarious and the narrator really brought it home.

While the 3rd act conflict wasn’t the best I’ve ever read and was a bit abrupt, it mostly made sense for the characters. Overall it didn’t take too much from my enjoyment of the book.

Also the spice was great, best I’ve read in ages.

This book could've earned 4.5 stars for just for the fibromyalgia representation alone. I have never once felt so seen, and I will be sending this book to friends to help supplement their understanding of what I experience.
It earned a 5 because the characters really are wonderful, the romance is great, and they act quite believably given the backgrounds they both have.
I really didn't want the act 3 breakup, and thought for a moment that it might lower my rating, but when it was all said and done I think it was a beautiful illustration of the difference between useless chronic pain, and the types of growing pains that we can't live without.
