This was a ride, and while not the worst, definitely not the best. This was one of those books where fake-dating was an extra step that didn’t NEED to happen, so it was really hard to suspend my disbelief most of the time. I would’ve enjoyed this more if the pacing was a lil bit slower i think
I liked this book, yes. But I didn't love it. It's still a good read. But some things were somewhat overlooked? I like Kate. She represented a lot of what millennials go through now. Being stuck in a not so great job, paying rent on a way too expensive for the size apartment, and a boss that gets off on rude. Damon is the typical arrogant boss that thinks his arrogance is bossiness. Nope! So when Kate is late to work, because her car broke down, Damon threatens to fire her. He's not in touch with reality. Not even a little. So when he takes her home for the holidays he puts his foot in his mouth and tells her parents they're dating.
I love a fake dating trope, but I couldn't get past Damon. Something about him never won me over.
Now, the reason I give this a 4 star rating is because Kate stuck as close to her guns as she could. She resisted Damon as best as she could. She drew lines when he wanted to obliterate them. The blurb doesn't have it as accurate. It says he slid her grandmothers ring on her finger. That's not exactly true. She stopped him before he could get to that. Alexis Winter writes great steamy scenes, and buildup to those scenes really well. But if you take that away, then the overall story isn't that great. So while this is a 4 star rating from me, it's just barely a 4 star rating.

Loved the plot and the premise of the story, but it moved way too fast and could have been a lot more detailed
This was really sort of stretching Christmas shenanigans for all it’s worth, because things did get a bit cringe. The plot itself is completely ridiculous. A woman’s family invite her ex boyfriend to their Christmas parties? And she ends up fake dating with her boss, who treats her like shit because he likes her. So a bit silly, but I honestly still had fun. Sex scenes were a bit cringe, but I felt a loooot of chemistry between them. So worth the read in the end if you don’t take it seriously (at all) and just enjoy it for the Christmas vibes.

Hallmark but make it spicier, add some Christmas vibes and you have this book.
Um. It’s okay. I didn’t like the hero at all, even though I felt for him in the end, I still didn’t care for him. She’s also annoying. I liked the spicy scenes.
