There's a lot going on in this book - coming out, multi-cultural life in Ireland, a queer romance, reconciling identities (muslim and queer); cultural appropriation.
This is definitely a book showing different lives and ways of being muslim

cute and wholesome! but i think i might just be too old now to relate to the childish and sometimes incomprehensible decisions made by characters. there wasn't much beyond surface level. still, a meaningful book, and i absolutely breezed through it in around 3 reading sessions and it left me feeling all warm inside ♡

this book is simply stunning!!
very rarely have i felt myself so well represented (as a muslim who can very much relate to nishat) in a book. I absolutely loved it and its definitely a book i wouldve wanted my younger self to have read

This was a quick read for me and I really enjoyed it. It took me some time to get behind Nishat and Flávia together but there were handfuls of scenes that sold them to me. I smiled and I teared up reading this book.

Parts of both Nishat and Flávia's stories painfully spoke to me. I found myself reflected in both characters, even if some of our experiences varied. Thank you, Adiba Jaigridar, for writing this book "to the queer brown girls".
