A follow up from reading Beyond The Tape by Dr Marie Cassidy last year. A fascinating book that captivated me from the get go, and the more reflective tone and focus on Dr Shepherd's mental health was an interesting perspective to pair alongside the clinical case studies.

This was one of those books that I’m sure everyone could take something away from it, but at the same time, I think the subject matter would also push people away from reading it.

My enjoyment of this book, and how informative I found it to be definitely hinges on the fact that I studied criminology and therefore knew a few of the cases discussed and the laws/processes mentioned.

For those who perhaps aren’t as interested in understanding or researching different areas of the justice system and the way the branches work together, this book may not be for them.

As someone intimate in field of medicine, this book familiriased me with aspects of forensic medicine far beyond textbooks. The approach to cases, the personal conflicts, the evolving world of medicine and ability to cope with such changes, fragility of mental health- this was a emotional, inspiring novel to read.
