Rileggerlo dopo anni è stato comunque emozionante ma essendo cresciuta mi rendo più conto di alcuni lati negativi nei personaggi di cui dovremmo provare simpatia e viceversa. L’unica “pecca” (che può però essere vista anche come lato positivo) è che è un po’ confusionario e c’è bisogno di più riletture per capire la storia a fondo e per accorgersi di alcuni particolari importanti nei disegni.

3.5 stars. I finished this sooo long ago and am just now reviewing it. I needed a little bit to think over it, and then I just got lazy. whoops.
For a long time, I've had an ugly taste in my mouth when I think of this book because of all the disruptive people I've encountered at protests wearing the anonymous mask. Because they have a mask on, they can act wild and mean and crazy and they often don't care about coordinating with the rest of the group or building a sense of community, which is the best and most valuable part of a protest (in my opinion).
In this novel, the real Guy Fawkes is a little more complicated. And so are the other characters. There is the conflicted establishment character who trips out, revisits his past, and struggles with what he has done and what he should do next. Guy Fawkes himself makes questionable decisions and his political motivations and desires are not as easy as those in masks at protests make you think they are.
Don't get me wrong, there are still some pretentious, Nietzchean monologues. But I don't really mind that, and there's cool stuff to puzzle over within that. It's dark, atmospheric, sketchy, and scary down here.

I know it’s an extremely lukewarm observation to read a comic for the first time in ages and say ‘wow, it’s like watching a movie!’. this was cinema though. ink brush artstyle I will always love you
